I was out 10 miles out of Stuart Inlet near Push Button Hill in approx 275 ft
of water. I was out alone that day fishing. I first had the smaller "cow"
dolphin on the line and the large"bull" followed her to the boat. after gaffing
the cow I started splashing the surface with my rod tip while reeling in a
ballyhoo rigged for trolling. I git the Bulls attention and "strike" had hi,
on. Took 40 minutes of wrestling him back to the boat and had him boatside
several times before I could hold the rod in one hand and the gaff in the
other. I gaffed him and threw him onboard. I was exhausted as I had to manuever the boat, fight back to back dolphins and be gaff man all in the same person. I am 39 years old and have been fishing all my life. The boat is a small 20ft center console named "Sycraft". I have had other good catches but that one was the most memorable.
WE had him weighed at Finest Kind and he was 48 lbs.

Noice fish! I liked your technique to lure the bull back after you'd caught his girlfriend.![]()
