Looks like the west coast of Vancouver Island is getting better by the minute.
An surprise early run of coho in the 5-12 lb catagory are inshore now around the Clayquot Sound area.Try the usual spots.I was out on the long weekend and had 5 coho and 2 springs released before lunch.
The Ho's were all taken on the surface on bucktails not more than 20 feet behind the boat.Olive and chartreuse seemed to be working and I couldn't get a hit on the standby hot pink.If you can find some small abalone spinner blades that would help you out,other wise hammered silver is the way to go.

We also got 2 springs inshore(wonders never cease! ),both on an anchovy behind a flasher fished 15-20 feet off the bottom.We had several strikes on a spoon too but failed to land any of them.The big spring (25-28lbs) was such a light biter that I almost missed the hit.If you see any taps at all..set that hook.

Offshore there seem to be a decent number of springs in the 15-30lb range.Anchovies behind a flasher again.

Hali's are picking up as well with decent numbers of chickens about.
