Put Contender stickers on your Sea Fox and you be stylin! But nobody in their right mind would believe it.

    Default My personal experience.

I looked at the Sea Fox flats and bay boats because I couldn't believe the prices. After inspecting them, I understand why they are priced so low. Kind of reminded me of the Yugo automobile.

I bought a Scout almost nine years ago and have no thoughts of trading for a new boat.

I've spent a lot of time on a 25 CC SeaFox that my co-worker used to have. Despite all the hear-say about the boat, I found it to be "ok" for what it was...

A cheaply built, cheaply priced, small for it's size boat.

We put close to 300 hrs on it and between rotted out spots in the floor, to rotted coring around the deck plates it made me really think it wasn't a very safe thing to be 30 miles offshore in.

The ride was standard for any low end boat, lot of slap, pounding, and really wet for a 25'er. I've fished a 256 Dusky, 27 Contender, 25 Hydra Sports, 28' WhiteWater, and none of them in any sea condition were ever wetter than that SeaFox was. Matter of fact, I'm pretty sure my 203 Dusky was drier than that thing.

Like I said, it was ok boat. But the rod holders, deck/inspection plates, and leaning post were all basically just floating in place. They never sealed any of the holes they drilled and because of that what coring they did use in the hull was totally saturated or rotted when we went to repair anything.

If you want to compare them to a well built boat, Dusky and SeaFox are both on the same road. Stop by and hit the side of a Dusky, then hit the SeaFox...

    Thumbs down Re: Seafox Boats

I'm new to the fourm, but I feel a need to get the word out about SEA FOX boats, First off I'm ashamed to say I did make the mastake of buying a 08' new in 09' a 256 WA Pro. now after a year going throu TWO dealerships. I finley gave up with them It was costing way to much of my own time and money. I stepped up and got a marine service to come out and go throu the boat. Frist of all I must say Sea Fox said "Out of good faith" sent me three (3) replacment Pumps I had to pay to have them installed as well as the hose that where dry roting and full of holes, The wiring that if this is NMMA Certified, we are all in trouble. Point is "Sea Fox" rep for building a cheep boat and not standing behind the mess is still intact. If I had it to do over I would still have my KEY WEST that I owned for meny years with NO ZERO (0) issues. remember you get what you pay for and in this case and pay for over and over. First Time buyers step up and give alittle more and get a boat that the builders will stand behind, it will cost you less in the long run. Got recepts to prove all I said above.

I own an 06 257 CW Sea Fox with a single 225 Merc 4 stroke.

    Good points.

Price quality is best in the entry level market.

    Cockpit space is fantastic.

Sit down head in cabin is good.

    Cabin size is good.

Nice size deck mounted fish boxes.

    150 gallon fuel tank.

    Negatives.

3 of the 4 T-Top points that terminate into the cabin leak water.

    Wireing can't be cheeper.

    Spider web cracks are excessive.

Macerators do not evacuate out the entire deck fish boxes.

Floor drains at helm placed too high to provide full drainage.

    Very wet ride.

Does not handle chop well. Pounds.

Fuel lines from tank to engine needed to be replaced after 5 years. (maybe a result of ethenol in fuels)

    Fish boxes uninsulated.

    Fish boxes non removeable.

Strap provided to keep cabin door open doesn't hold worth a crap.

Anchor rope locker is too small.

Low end livewell and bildge pumps.
    This too shall pass.

My name is Ryan Balderson,I am from the plant where we manufacture Sea Fox
in Moncks Corner. Let me first tell you the history of Sea Fox and how it
has evolved over the past 13 years. Yes, the sons of Carl Renken started now...

www.seafoxboats.com and people enjoying our boats: www.teamseafoxboats.com

As a former Renken and Sea Fox dealer, I do have to say that the brand has come a long way but I still do not consider a reel (lol) fishing man's boat. Its is a great value if you want to do some light pleasure boating.

Customer service at the factory has always been the worst (going back to the 80's) and they seem to be trained in putting the fault on the dealers rigging not the lack of 100% QC. Most of the problems are easy fixes but not something you want to deal with as a brand new boat owner.

Remember that your brand new boat is only as solid as the dealer who rigged it. Seafox dealers are notoriously cheap!

I just purchased a 2008 Seafox 216CC with a Suzuki 150 four stroke. My question is do I need to use a transom saver while I'm trailering the boat?

So you sold it then? Or are you still an owner?
