I finally got a chance to get out on the water yesterday. I launched at 6:30 and was greeted with a great sunrise. I threw some topwater early while it was calm but with no luck. I paddled up to a spot that had lots of mullet activity and decided to give the new DOA baits a workout. I waded for about 10 minutes then redfish #1 came calling. He was 25" and I guesstimated him to be around 7 pounds. He ate a weedless 4" DOA jerkbait in the Stark Naked color. He was thick.
I worked that area for a while with no more success so I decided to moved back down the shoreline to try and catch the outgoing flush and the short minor feeding period. As soon as I got to a famed redfish spot, I saw a push and threw the Stark Naked jerkbait and landed redfish #2. He went 24" and probably went 6 pounds.
After that I pretty much called it a day. The new DOA baits are great!! Here is the Stark Naked color which looked exactly like the small whitebait theat was on the flats. I'm pretty sure that is what the reds were eating because the whitebait was mixed in with the mullet.
Here are more of the new DOA baits.....the second one down on the right is the "Carbonated" Rootbeer color. That is the most realistic fake shrimp I've ever seen!! You have to see it in the water.
A great day and great baits. Not much more you can ask for!
