    Thumbs up Tiwi Islands

Fished an area known as Marie Shoals north of Darwin. Over 2 day using various techniques from bait to trolling and jigging we managed to land 25 different species from Giant Trevally, monster mangrove Jacks, Red Bass, Coral Trout, Spanish Mackerel, Maori Sea perch, long nose emperor, Green Jobfish, Gold Spot Cod up to 25+ kg's and the list goes on.

If only i could work out how to post pictures.

    cheers

    Hi Al,

private boats as Warrick would know, I was going to join up with you gents unfortunatley things didn't quite work out. The trip i did was about 3-4 weeks prior to yours.

from memory max movement of the tide was around 2.5m coming off neaps, and yes it gets a bit rough of a night there. Another trick to try is trolling crazy deep lures around the 13m mark if things are quite, we found you could pick up large cod and Trout and in all ended up with 7 trout for about and hours worth with the usual spanyids mixed in.

Another area to try if time permits is to the north of Marie about 17klms is a massive area of shoal which we never got to but did to the East of it which was Goodrich Banks and it was better than Marie. To the north of Goodrich about a klm or 2 one boat picked up good size Reds and Russell snapper. The RED Bass are big and go hard make the Jacks look fairly tame.
