The weather was beautiful yesterday so we decided to head out and see if we could get a couple of grouper in the boat before lunch.
We were able to get a few pins in the flats and picked up some big white bait and greenbacks between the bridges at the skyway and headed out. Our destination was about 10-12 mi. W out of Pass A Grille in 50-55 ft. to a couple of ledges that we had marked before. Sea's were 2-3's heading out and 1-2's coming in so as it turned out we picked the right day.
We ended up catching a bunch of shorts, as per usual, but did manage three keepers the biggest of which was 28" and four triggers. We didn't spend as much time as we'd like exploring the area because my buddy's daughter was heading back to her college that afternoon but had a great time on a great day, got a few for the dinner table and found out the area is worth a little more exploring.
All in all, a great December day in/around beautiful Tampa Bay!
(Sorry, no pics... my camera took a permanent vacation but I'll be picking another up shortly before the next report & Great forum BTW)
