This is my last fishing report for 2007. Where did it go??

What with the holidays and all I only got out two days this week. On Christmas Day the Kumiskis had 22 people sit down for dinner, and more came afterwards. Although there was a lot of hard work involved it was a most pleasant day. Good to see everyone!!

On Thursday I went on a scouting trip by kayak out of River Breeze. To my dismay the water had come up considerably. I know it’s up when I find motorboats in my favorite kayak fishing spots, and I did. The fish had mostly moved to other locales, though. After seeing so many tailing fish last week I only saw one small group this day. I had six shots in four hours and got one fish on a modified slider.

Friday I hosted Bill Byron and his brother-in-law Ted Gronski. Bill was in the canoe with me, Ted in the OK Prowler. I stopped at Kelly’s and bought two dozen shrimp (!) on the way to River Breeze. I knew from the previous day that there weren’t a lot of fish around, and I figured that sweet shrimpy smell might put a couple of fish in the boats.
As it turned out, as I expected, it was a fairly slow day. We did not find a single fish tailing, and we covered a lot of water searching for them. Some of the fish we did find didn’t eat, not even those shrimp. We managed six redfish to 25”, three small trout, and two fat cats, everyone’s favorite fish (not) and one of the many reasons I’d rather fly fish. But it was a beautiful day and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

A most happy, healthy, peaceful, prosperous, and fish-filled New Year to everyone!

Life is short- GO FISHING!!!

Life is great and I love my work!
