    Default Mazatlan update

With the water and weather starting to gradually warm the fishing inshore and off shore is stating to pick up! Compared previous weeks where it was a bit of a roller coaster ride. Up or down hit or miss mainly due to an unseasonably cool and windy winter there. Which obviouslly in turn affected the water temperature and currants slowing things from there normal season. Some big Mahi Mahi and Marlin are being taken offshore. Grouper, Snapper, Snook and the ever abundant Jack Crevalle being taken inshore.Mazatlan also offers some great fresh water Bass fishing opportunety for those who prefer one the other or both fresh & saltwater. Within a short drive of the city lays the famed Lake El Salto. The lake produces quality Bass fishing in both size and numbers. The cool and windy weather on the coast does not seem to effect this shelterd mountain lake! There are several 10lb+ bass being caught daily! On March 4 Barney Houser while fishing on a day trip caught a 10lb/ 2 oz bass on his 3rd cast. I fished 2 half days caught several 5's and an 8lb my total for 2 afternoons was 170 bass my second afternoon I hite a hole and caught 1 to 2 lb bass everycast for over 2 hours on a Zoom watermelon lizard
