Default Shadowcast Charters Fishing Report W/E 7/5/08

Sorry it's been a while but I have had trouble logging on to this site....but here you go.

Early in the day and late in day are the ticket for finding redfish on the flats in Sarasota Bay. Topwater plugs (Mirr-O-Lure's Mirro-Mullet) are still a great option. With the high water temperatures, plugs have to be worked very slowly. Weedless jerkbaits are a constant standby if the topwater bite is off.

Snook and tarpon are still the top draw on the beaches. Light colored baitfish flies are the ticket for snook in the surf. Just beyond the surf, tarpon are still moving up and down the beaches. Chartreuse/Yellow Toad flies are the ticket with darker colored flies working early or late in the day. On spin tackle, DOA Baitbusters will do the trick on beach side silver kings.

The standard summer pattern is on fire under the lights inside of Jupiter Inlet. Dark flies on outgoing tides, light colored flies on incoming tides. Double digit fly catches of snook are very easy by sticking to this pattern at night.

Nice snook caught by client, Jason Storrs

I even got to pick up a straggler......
