Hey anglers, Capt. Charlie Thomason here, the fishing has been off the hook down in Hopedale. This past week we caught over 1000 trout and 241 redfish. Most of the trout are from 12" to 22" and the reds are 20" to 38" with a few too big to measure.
This week we had Louisiana Land Bank, Hunt Forest Products, Varuso/ Ripoll Contractors, Castrol Oil, Cisco Technologies, John Graham from GA and his seven friends, Glazers Distributers and Mr. Charlie Pabst. The fishing has been really good on the trout, redfish and drum. All of our trips limited out on specks with most being between 75 and 100 trout. The reds have been moving a lot but we still have been doing well on topwaters and spoons way back in the marsh.
The fish in our area are making their transitional movement from the outer bays and lakes to the interior bayous and shallow flats of the marshes. Saltwater Assassins under a cork have proven deadly on the trout. Finding diving gulls or jumping shrimp has been the key to success for trout. Now for the reds we have been fishing shallow flats and ponds with She Dogs or 3/4oz gold and silver spoons. Many of the reds have been schooled up and tailing along the broken marsh that was lost due to Katrina.
All three of my guides have been working hard trying to stay on the bulls out along the gulf but the big bulls have been moving hard with the schools of mullet.
We are booking our winter sight casting and fly fishing trips right now so don't miss out on having the opportunity to fish where there are no REFUSALS!!
The Silver Side Lodges have been booked up with fisherman and Duck hunters for the week and it looks that the hunters were pleasantly surprised on opening day.
Well, don't forget----Don't Fish ""Bayou-Self"" Fish with Capt. Charlie Thomason's Bayou Charters and Silver Side Lodges.
