    Default Congratulations

    Congratulations to all participants,
Hi Al; I am envious of the albino sailfish. Pity there is no way to target those. For comparative purposes, for those who are seeking billfish, Guatemala is the premier fishery for Pacific Sails. The number of other species caught is a strong indicator of the prevalence (or lack of) of marlin in the region. It roughly appears that 100 sails are caught per each blue marlin. Again, congratulations to all and especially for the release of that ever, ever so rare albino billfish. For Pacific Sails this is the place to go (tournament or no tournament) with the record in a day being by Capt. Hamlin at around 124 +/- (subject to confirmation/it might be considerably higher). Such a nice way to spend November.
    Cheers,
    Doc

And, here's the rest of the report:

5-6 & 8 Nov: The Casa Vieja Fleet started off the new season fishing the Club Náutico International Light Tackle Tournament.

Capt. Chris Sheeder aboard the "Buddy Boy" Finished the tournament in second place releasing 31 sails in the three day tournament and a blue marlin, not a bad finish taking into consideration that Chris went looking for the mother load the first day and did not release a fish on day one. Congrats to Chris and the crew for a job well done!

Capt. Chico Alvarenga aboard the "Cañaso" had a very nice showing during the tournament releasing 27 sails and a blue marlin of about 300# on 20#. The Cañaso and crew finished the tournament in third place, and was in the bite all three days.

Capt. Nico Melendrez aboard the "Release" also had a very good tournament and was the boat that found the bite that was fished during the tournament. Nico and his crew finished in a not so distant fourth place releasing 27 sails. Lady luck was not to be seen on day three of the tournament aboard the "Release" but the opportunity in bites was ever present for the anglers.

Capt. Erik aboard the "Finest Kind" released 14 sails and a blue marlin during the three day tournament and finished in a very distant 10th place. They will be looking to redeem themselves during the upcoming Presidential Challenge of Central America tournament taking place 20 thru 23 Nov.

Hi Doc, we have Ron's release flag on display in the office. The record was been broken by some guy in Mag Bay on baby stripeys. The same day, Jim Turner fishing on the "Release" caught 57 sails on a fly and it still stands.

Gee, I just noticed SanCocho's report and Pez Vela's are identical. So who is stealing from whom? Or is Pez Vela really trolling in SanCocho's wake. I note SanCocho posts on In The Bite and other sites frequently.

I am Pez Vela here in this forum and i am Sancocho in anothers sites but i did not post on In The Bite so far, so i am not stealing to anybody, i like to share information about fishing and i like to share the fishing report from my country,

And i started to post fishing report from Guatemala in another sites becouse i get tired to see fishing reports from Iztapa Guatemala with only thousands and thousands of letters and hundres of billfish releases but with out a single photo, if you see most reports from Guatemala or another good spot from who copy and paste my report from another site ( steal ) always are the same just letters and no photos and nobody re post to his fishing reports becouse that, why his captians or mates dont have the time to take some photos during the fishing time ?

    suerte,

I get my Guatemala and Venezuelan reports directly from the horses-mouth, not from Liz or anyone else. So far as I know, there's no copyright on forum postings. Anyone can borrow from anyone else. My reports are often translated into German, Norwegian, Swedish, French and Chec for those websites that don't have English forums and I have no problem with that.
During tournaments the photos are copyrighted, so you need to be careful about posting them without giving proper credit.
