If you want to catch Bull Reds just head a few miles offshore and look for diving birds. The Bull Reds are holding in around 50' of water and are chasing bait up to the surface. This past week working with retired DNR biologist Glenn Ulrich we tagged 21 Adult Red Drum from 36" to 45" in less than 2 hours following the bird activity. The fish bit cut bait as well as White Bucktails.
Inshore the slot sized Red Drum are very aggressive as well. The clear water makes spotting fish easy and very few will refuse your offerings of Gulp baits or fly patterns of Brown or Gold.
