    Default Biscayne Bay

This day started with friend Capt. Honson Lao on the bow with fly rod in hand, clear skies and a nice 10-15 MPH east wind on the Oceanside of Biscayne Bay to sight fish migrating tarpon. An hour and a half of effort yielded several shots at a single fish with no hook up so we abandoned the tarpon quest. Since bonefish was next on the list we moved a few feet shallower and began the hunt. Not long after we start spotting a few singles here and there and then what we came to find, a nice school of fat fish closing in at 11 o’clock. They hit the bow sooner than anticipated and they pushed to 1 o’clock. An expertly placed fly and one fish from the middle of the school takes notice but looses the fly. A short strip and the fish finds the fly again, crushes it and we are off. The sweet sound of the drag highlights the shooting rooster tail of fly line cutting across the water and the dorsal fin of a nice bonefish slicing back and forth in panic. A few strong runs later we bring this solid 9lb bone to the boat. With smiles wrapped around our faces we spend the rest of the day enjoying the bounties of Biscayne Bay in great company.
