Departed Rudee Inlet at 0600 hrs to light winds and calm seas, made it to CLT in 22 minutes at 45 mph. There were about a dozen boats already there upon my arrival. I did not see anyone catching so I dove in and speared 4 fish in about an hour, they were 4-7lbs.The visibility was fair at 20-25 ft. The school of fish was large, fast moving and it looked like a war zone. There were several fish with bites the size of my hand out of them, it amazes me that they could still swim. I saw at least a dozen trailing lines with hooks and a couple that had been speared. One of the fish I speared had two hooks in him, one had one hook and another had been speared once already. Overall most of the fish looked healthy and there were several big ones in the school. After that I went 5 miles further out to the A bouy looking for triggers with no luck. I also stopped at three set of bouys and a big grass/trash line loking for some cobia. The wind started picking up and I had some calls so I went in at 1030. I covered 42 miles and burned 9 gals.
Here are some pictures. The last picture is of the hooks I pulled from the fish I speared.
