Default Which Mono: Berkley Big Game or Ande Back Country

Will be doing some surf, offshore fishing (no more than 1/2 mile out) and trolling next week. Hoping to land:
    Cobia
    Shark (under 150#)
    Dolphin
    Bass
    Spot
    Drum
    Blues

Will be using a SPINNING reel (Sargus 6000).

Which line should I go with?

i personally would go with the berkley big game, those are both great lines, but for me berkley would be good to go.
Lifes too short to catch SMALL fish.

It depends on what do you prefer...
If you what a softer..flexible line go whit berkley..

If you what a stronger better knot line go whit ande

It's kind of funny you mentioned the Sargus. I use them for a lot of my applications, and we were just talking about them on another thread. Good reel, but are you sure you're going to have the line capacity with mono?

230/17 sounds good, but the reality of it is that you're probably only going to get 190 yards of mono on the reel. If you're OK with that, I like the Ande Tournament. But, like previously mentioned, you can't go wrong with either one.

If you're not stuck on mono, i'd personally go with braid. You figure 30 pound braid has about the same diameter as #10 mono. You could squeeze right around 400 yards on there. That's a lot of piece of mind. Not only can you get by with a stronger line, but you'll have twice the capacity. None of the species you mentioned should be a problem on the braid. I would recommend against braid if you were trolling for kings or something like that. Just make sure you have a rod that's got plenty of give, and you're good to go.

I never tried Ande back country but have used their premium for years. I use Big Game too. They are both very good lines. I also have Sufix tritanium hi viz on a couple of reels and have just spooled one with Momoi hi viz and like that too. I think I will be using Hi viz lines more often. They so much easier for me to see and the fish don't seem to notice them. My brother uses Red Cajun on all of his charter rods and swears by it. And the list goes on and on

Cajun line is crap, seriously. It's strong enough, but it's got more memory than a 2 Gig hard drive. It's expecially crap in colder climates, which is when the memory really kicks in.

My preference is Big Game, Maxima and Ande. The latter two - the West German lines are superior in every respect.
