St. John's that is...
My old roommate called me about noon and said he was off work, we ran a couple of quick errands and then went and stole a boat to go speck fishing. After successfully pilfering the vessel we embarked on one of the nastiest runs I've made in a flat bottom johnny. Wasn't a big deal once we crossed the river and pulled into the narrow river we were going to be fishing and quickly got on 'em. I put 5 or 6 in the boat before Thomas finally found one. Then the bite died. We ran to another spot we had caught some big ones at on the previous trip but no one was home. Returned to the previous location and found them firing good. I slipped into a day dream as thoughts of birds circling over head and tuna crashing ran through my mind I was awoken from my day dream by a tug. My 1000 Sahara was screaming drag as the fish tried to get free. But atlast his efforts were futile, the 6# leader was too much and he finally succumb to the power. As I boated him he fit nicely in the palm of my hand and I realized that the will of this fish was that many times his size, he was much smaller than the rest and I returned him to his home, hopefully to grow up for next time!
The sun was setting, it was raining, AGAIN, and my sinus headache was reaching epic levels.
No pics, but we had about 20-25 fish between 10-13". Threw back a handful of bluegill/bream.

Sounds to me like some of them there Speckled Perch. Fins correct me if I'm wrong. Sounds like a good day. Have not had the chance to get out there this season. Monroe in the pads should be firing right now.

Nice work fins![]()
Hey Fins,
did you just use jigs or minnows? if you use minnows where do you get them?
We only fish jigs... When we go we usually only have 2 hrs or so before dark and don't mess with bait.
10-4.....do you know of anywhere to get minnows in that area?
if its too windy for the goon this weekend im prob. gonna head out in search of some specks
