Actually was able to sneak out…..surprise to me.

Took the neighbors boat out of Canaveral. Original plan was to go to 8A and the weather buoy. It was a little cool and I had some things to do in the morning so we didn’t drop the boat in until about 8:00. He said we were changing plans and headed south because there was warmer water there. Straight from the Port we headed on a course a little south of south Pelican.

At about 60’ there was a really nice weed line and temp jumped up to about 72. Said what the heck, water looks good, lets put in. After about 10 minutes my sons custom rod I made goes off and he pulls in about a 10 lb Little Tunny…..cool deal. We stay on the weed line and about 10 minutes later get a King about 15lbs. This was a boat rod, but I let me son reel it after I got it about ˝ way. Decided to troll for deeper water and about 10 minutes later I watch another King sky with the lure from my sons rod in his mouth again. He fought like a champ and when he was done he said he was too tired to catch another one.

Decided to pick up and head east looking for more species. Stopped at about 150’ and headed north on more weeds and beautiful water.

Saw a Huge pod of dolphins (mammal) with blackfin tuna all around them. Didn’t feel like changing lures so we just kept the dolphin and hoo spread and spooked the heck out of the school a few times looking for them. We’d be going in the direction we thought we saw them and next thing you know they’d be jumping all around the boat.

On the way back in, color change from beautiful blue to green. Temp drops from 74 to 68….amazing.

Total tall of the day: 4 kings, 1 little tunny, and one heck of a nice time to finally be able to get back out. Hope my obligations and the weather cooperate more in the future so it’s not so long between trips.
