i recently read a post whereby a fellow forum member had to cancel a bahamas fishing trip because he didn't have enough crew members. unfortunately, this has happened to me as well. because of the economy and increased operating expenses of boat ownership, it only makes sense to occasionally bring along another angler(s) on a multi-day trip. of course this helps with the trip costs, but it will also promote friendships and you will catch more fish!
a group or "network", if you will, comprised of compatible fisherman who are seriously ready, willing and able to enjoy a bahamas fishing adventure is of interest to many. this idea can also be used for a tortugus trip as well. i am requesting ideas, suggestions and level of interest from all forum members. i am offering , at least initially, to be the "network" liasion between the non-professional captains and potential new crew members. a few phone calls, a personal meeting and a forum recommendation are some good ideas prior to a firm commitment being made.
we already have a trip scheduled for the weekends of march 5th and march 12th. i do hope that you can join us. please e-mail jeff: bahamasfishingnetwork@hotmail.com
this idea is for fun and not for profit
It's a good idea and one we use here locally in Jupiter..Usually it involves the captain of the boat covering gas and crew brings snacks etc..Then when we go on the next Captain's boat same thing..
Of course going to the bahamas is a bigger expense and we usually calculate costs upfront before the trip plays out..Pay up front and if it goes over budget(usually just gas) it is setteled at the fueling dock on the way home..Whenever you are the captain you hare the treasurer and trip planner..
