    Default 4/4/10... Cobia finally arrived!

Hadn't been offshore since 12/23 and was getting the itch really bad!

Friday night my buddy Greggor came up from Lauderdale to hang with my neighbor and do some fishing. They fished Saturday, got 1 cobia, palm beach released another, and had a shot at one more. Saturday night I got an earful about how great they are and they didn't need me to find fish... So, I made arrangements to show them how it was done.

Sunday morning, got up and ran to work to get my guy all setup for the busy day. Came home loaded the boat and off we went. Cleared the mouth of Port Canaveral at 11, ran about 12 miles south and began our hunt. Turtles, birds, tons of bait, pretty much everything you could ask for. Just no cobes! And the heckling began....

Around 1205 I get to hear "I thought you said we'd limit by noon"... And "We atleast caught a fish yesterday"...

At 1210 "Holy Sh!t"!!!!!! I look over, 8-10' Manta ray loaded up with cobia. We all cast out, 3 fish hooked up, I land mine, Thomas' pulls off, and Mikes is questionable so we let him go. High fives, and the heckling subsides for a few. Another 30 minutes and we spot a turtle, 3 fish on it. None want to eat anything we have to offer.

Find another ray around 130 and we popped two off of it before it takes off. Then we slowly picked at short fish until it was time to go home for dinner. We saw a school of atleast 6-8 fish hauling butt north, I think they came off a jumping ray. And we saw one fish free swimming on the ride back home.

Final tally was 9 or 10 caught, 4 in the box, saw too many to count.

Fun day on the water with some good buddies on Easter Sunday! Hard to beat!!!

Got a call today from a friend who works at Patrick AFB. He says as he was driving home, there was a floatilla off the base. Said that there was a school of Manta Rays, and the cobes were probably there. Could be time guys, could be time.

    Nice work Jimmy.

Get'em to post some reports here. Kind of quiet around here lately. With the fishing, I'd think there would be more reports.....
