Heading offshore on Wednesday. Probably do some slow trolling out at pelican or 8A. Anybody got any recent reports? Any locations on where the bait has been?
The only people that tell you it can't be done are the people who haven't done it themselves.
Nobody huh? Shaping up to be a hot, no bait day I guess. At least I won't be working.

If its of any help - I went out of PC friday - to 8 A - never saw a bait pod all day. I've heard the CB pier often has some bait - - or further south to that church steeple. We trolled ballyhoo and every kind of lure - never a hit. Around noon - I heard someone ask on the radio ; " Is ANYBODY catching ANYTHING out here by 8 A ? " ( about a dozen boats in the general area ) - - Nobody replied. So we dropped cut ballyhoo down - small sea bass was all we got - moved a couple hundred yards to get away from them. Then got one nice Red Snapper - put him back, then we were deluged by small sharks - so we quit. Seemed most gave up trolling around 11 am - and were bottom fishing.
Thanks for the info. Decided to postpone today and head out Friday. Maybe the wind will turn around a bit and blow some of the bait in.
Seems pretty dead out there huh? That's OK, there's a remora out there somewhere with my name all over it.

I may give friday a try as well - not 100% sure yet - If I do go - after getting skunked going to 8 A for three times in a row - I think I will try looking for bait schools along the beach - starting at the pier - working towards the church steeple - maybe even further towards Melbourne. I don't have a cast net for pogeys - but will try fishing with lures - or dead bait - around any bait pods - if I find any ! If I do go as tentatively planned - I''ll have my radio on " scan " - I'll answer to " Sea Hunt " ( a 232 Triton ) - - If you give me your radio call sign - if I find any bait pods - I'll let you know - if you'll do the same. I would likely leave Bluepoints Marina about 8:30 ish - start looking by CB pier first -. Bob G.
That would be great Bob, thanks! We *may* go out of SI, it's a 50/50 chance. Not my boat, but you can hail my buddy 'Altumbo'. Long story about the name. He's got a bluewater 2350 with twin 150 zukes on it.
If we go out of PC we may actually be done catching bait and out by 8:30, but I'll hail you if we find some bait. If it's slow, we'll see each other.

Bob: Did you go on Friday? How did you do? We went out of SI and did pretty well once we got bait.

Mikey - I saw your reort and that you did OK. I only got out late - and was not a serious fishing attempt - no bait or ice. Found my VHF antenna mount was loose - stripped bolt - off to Ace Hardware - - then this new HDS sonar I just got - go s haywire in readings as soon as I leave the dock - - But - - around 10 am - - saw no baitfish by CB pier - - rode towards 8a - - saw something jump in the distance - - tried trolling various lures for an hour or so - then headed back in. I've only had this boat a couple weeks - and am working out the kinks. Dockside experts consensus was - to lower the existing transom ducer - or - its defective as the previous head was. So - I lowered it an inch or more - won't know if that was the fix till I take it out again - with the sloppy conditions - looks like maybe next week ! As I was leaveing Bluepoints - I saw a number of boats comeing in - and someone told me there was a " Mack Attack " tournament that next day -- but haven't seen any reports or results - - or anything at all on it anywhere.
