Default A little Lady luck is all I needed!

Ever since splashing my boat late last year my fishing adventures have been lets say less than stellar. I was beginning to think I had lost my mojo. It was getting so bad my good friends were starting to dodge my calls. Well earlier in the week the wife says her mother, our primary sitter, had mentioned she hadn't seen our daughter for a several weeks & wanted to see her. The boat was in the shop getting some glass repairs done but it would be ready by the weekend. The weather was looking nice I said lets go fishing & surprizingly she agreed! I kept an eye on bouyweather & Sunday was good but then bad then good & then bad again with predictions of 13-18kt ENE wind! I was starting to think it was going to be an intracoastal trip but I still had faith. I never showed any signs of worry otherwise she may have canceled all together.
Well I picked up the boat yesterday & after a quick trip to west marine to replace my trailer light plug that someone stole, I was home & loading the boat. The wife was getting excited & we enjoyed a quite night home instead of spending in out pretending we are still in our 20's. With the alarm set for 5:30 we hit the sack!
As usual on fishing days I was up before the alarm. We loaded up & were off to the 15th St. Launched the boat, down the ditch to find that the bait boat wasn't around.. (snookyj)? Oh well no biggie the plan was to drown some frozen bally's then try to find some vermies & then see if I could get her on an AJ or 2.

Cleared the inlet to a beautiful sunrise & headed SE into a nice 1' chop. About 15 min into our ride I caught a wave a managed to splash my wife with equivilant of throwing a 5 gallon bucket of water at her. I thougth it was damn funny! She did not.....
We ran off about 8 miles & after crossing several small weedless rips I decided to start blind trolling to the east. At about 12 off we found a nice rip holding some decent sized patches & started working it to the south. It didn't take long before we had our first bite but it came unglued just behind the boat. Oh well, we'll call it a practice run. Shortly after we picked up a little schoolie that went hit the ice. The wife say she wants a bigger fish that the little one didn't even put up a fight. Not two minutes went by & she's back in the chair fighting her next fish. Got a nice gaffer after some huffing & puffing.

That was followed up by two more schoolies. It was 9:30 we were looking good, however, the winds had started to pick up from the north & trolling into it was not comfy for her so with not wanting to push my luck I started trolling toward Haulover. We were in the inlet by 11:30, had some lunch at the sandbar while watching the entertainment & then made the slow treck up the ditch.
All in all a great day for me. She's ready to go again but is exhausted & all she had to do was reel!

Hot lure for the day was the Big Bite Offshore pink & white over a bally.

I got the skunk off FINALLY!!!!
