    Default Jupiter Fishing Report 5-22-11

Got on the water at 7:30 this morning to flat seas and clear water. Went out the Jupiter Inlet and made a left to the new rock pile looking for some bait. There was about 20 boats on it already with none of them getting anything. We used #4 and #6 sabiki on got none after a half hour. So we decided to head to the juno rocks in search of some bait. Again there were none around so we headed offshore.
On our way out we saw a free jumping sail in 85 ft and threw a dead sardine at it and it left as quickly as it came. We dropped down for some mutton snapper in 90 ft for our first drift. We hooked up pretty soon and got a mutton and a mystery fish that got away. We then went to 75 ft and caught three more mutton fishing dead baits on the bottom with a 1/2 oz weight. Decided to troll for some BFT wit a feather and bonita strip on one rod and a daisy chain on the other. We ran to the 135 ft ledge and instantly hooked up with two bonita. While reeling in the bonita we saw another free jumpin sail in the distance and we couldn't get to it. We trolled around for another half hour with nothin. We decided to go back to 75 ft for some more mutton. We got there put down our lines and also put one on the surface. After a few minutes the surface line with a dead sardine got nailed. We brought it in and it was a nice 4 ft king.

After another 10 min I hooked up with a nice red grouper on bottom on a chicken rig. It was 23' and I decided to let it go because we already had enough fish for everyone for dinner.

We dropped down for another hour only catching one triggerfish and a porkfish before we decided to come in at 2:30. Great day on the water for fishing in Jupiter. The mutton bite is on!!!
