    Default Blackfin! Sunday 5/22

Went out Sunday around 5pm to get some quick fishing in before sundown. Started out a drift with live pilchards south of Pompano Pier between 200′ – 100′ and wasn’t able to produce any bites. The current was pushing us North with the wind blowing out of the North East, and with those two things together, it felt like a washing machine. Finally at the last drift of the day I put out 2 rods, one with a 5oz and the other with a 3oz, looked at the 15lb spinner and said to myself, “Why not”. As soon as I started putting out the bait I immediately got a strike and it was FISH ON! Not knowing what it was, I didn’t want horse the fish to the boat. We were running out of light and I didn’t mind…this was a big fish! After about a 30min fight we finally get the fish to the top of the water and what do ya know? BLACKFIN! Captain Lance pulled out the gaf and bam! Fish in the boat! 20lb Blackfin in 160′ off of Deerfield Beach.
Just goes to show thats why they call it fishing and not catching right?

I guess that is why they call it fishing and not catching! Great fish especially since you were only out there for a few hours.

    Wat to go!
