    Default My Offshore Jigs

I enjoy saltwater fishing and go out 2-3 times a week. I got tired of spending so much money on jigs so I decided to make my own. The supplies in total costed about $60 and I have made over 100 lures. With my lures I have caugh BFT, dolphin, Mutton snapper, Kingfish, Spanish mackerel, Grouper, Black sea bass, bonita, and AJ's. Here they are. Please tell me what you think!

Please tell me what you think of my homemade lures!!!

Thanks! I make 1, 1.5, and 2 oz. I make them in green, chartreuse, pink, and red out of tough, flashy flashibou. They work on all fish. Sometimes when the bite is slow I add a full squid to it and the fish go nuts!

Where did you get your supplies? I was looking for a 3oz or 4oz mold.

I got mine at do-it-molds.com. They have 3 and 4 oz molds there. As well as the flashibou material that works great.

They look great, The glow ones would be killer on Grouper.

They are obviously effective, but would look a lot better if the flash and/or other material you are tying on was trimmed at the neck and the short ends hidden by your wraps. What material are you using to paint them, and what are you using to seal/paint the thread?

FWIW, for jigs that size, I use 2 coats of Rustoleum before I tie my jigs, then 3 coats after I tie them, painting over top if the thread as well as the head. For smaller jigs, I use powdercoat to "paint" them, and wrap them with 2# mono or flat waxed nylon if I want color, sealed with a goop/toluene mixture (The formula for Dave's Flex-cement)

Most of my jigs are tied using bucktail, with mylar or flashaboo as some sparkle.

    Here's some of my jigs
