Naples fishing for Tarpon is "Off The Hook". But when you can keep them "On the Hook", your in for a Big Fight. In Naples fishing off the beaches is where we find the "Big Daddy's", and plenty of teenage poons can be found in the backwater cuts and channels We've done best with live baits, fly and cut baits. These critters will range from 40 lbs. to 200 lbs. with the average being around 100 lbs. The Silver King is a fish of a life time, very strong fighters and jumps that will out do any marlin. Either bait or fly, you owe it to yourself to fish for this species."Now Is The Time" Don't hesitate to reserve your date cause the Tarpon are plentiful but available dates are not.
Red fish are on eating well when you can find them. I've been doing best on the lower tides that have good flow. Shrimp, white bait & cut bait has been working for me. On the lower tides, they become very visible with their tails sticking up in the air. Fishing for tailing reds is great fun! The trick is being there when they are feeding. Try working the edges of the sand bars and oyster reefs. When hunting the flats for reds, move very slowly and watch for pushes, tails and boils.
Snook have fired up due to warming waters, now getting into the low 80's. You can find them in their normal areas, along the beaches, near mouths of creeks, passes, canals, pot holes and points. A few in the 20lb. range and plenty in the slot are being caught. Fishing with white bait, shrimp, cut ladyfish, flies and jigs all will work. Fishing them on a tide with good current is paramount, I prefer an outgoing tide or top of the incoming. A well placed bait, lure or fly will result in a powerful fight that you'll remember for a lifetime.
Naples fishing for Jacks, mackeral, cobia, grouper, sharks and more is active! These fish and others are common on the flats and back-country. When encountered they all are a lot of fun with light-tackle or on the fly. So, now is the time to fish.
