The MRMTC Tournament Committee, our Members, Officers and Trustees would like to thank all of this year's participants, sponsors and host marina Crystal Point for making our 31st Annual Offshore Open a complete success!
Despite having Hurricane Irene disrupt the first few days of the tournament, our event went off as planned.
This year's tournament paid out over $80,000 in prize money with 40 boats registered.
Additionally, we raised more than $10,000 for scholarship and fishery issues support. This years recipients are as follows:
The Recreational Fishing Alliance
The Save the Summer Flounder Fishery Fund
The George Burlew Scholarship Fund - for those that are unaware, the MRMTC issues scholarships every year to those students pursuing an education in marine sciences. Through activities of our club members and events like the Offshore Open, we regularly help students of marine studies advance their education. Since its inception, the George Burlew Scholarship Fund has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships. If you or anyone you know is interested in applying for a scolarship, please review the application process at: http://mrmtc.com/scholarships
We look forward to seeing all of you next year at the MRMTC's 32nd Annual Offshore Open. With the Offshore Open having again set records for participation and purse, just wait till you see what we have in store for next year.
