Now that SW FL is experiencing a more spring like weather pattern and the strong cold fronts have seemed to subside for the moment, the backcountry action couldn't be better. The snook and redfish bite in the creeks and residential canals has been phenomenal primarily jigging with soft plastics in the deeper troughs along the bushes where there's the most tidal flow and in deeper holes near structure. We've also had more than our share of juvenile tarpon on fly throwing small baitfish patterns in the backwater canals.
Those are great pictures and a nice report ~ Cool equipment as well. Love the multi colored fly reel and kayaks, etc.. Looks like alot of fun and not high pressure. Some nice fish too, they look very healthy, as are the fisherman (: I have been thinking about the Sarasota or Clearwater area of FL, are there any areas to
live there that are not quite as crowded as the rest of the region? I would like to be within 5 to 10 minutes of a really good boat ramp or marina, and have good acess to offshore as well. My other pick is NE Florida where I have lived before, but thinking about giving something new a try this time. Thanks for the tip ~
Keep fishing!

Thanks and I hope you find the ideal region to eventually settle in that's convenient to boating/kayak fishing opportunities. I'm not familiar with the Sarasota or Clearwater areas unfortunately. I'd recommend the Estero/Ft Myers area for some great backwater and flats fishing as well as offshore fishing.
