Today the ocean was flat, we left government in a Renegade 38 ft with triple 300 verados, and headed south at 50 to 68 miles per hour, I was not very comfortable with this very high speed but we did get to the spot in half the time. we anchored in 55 feet with the tide moving good toward the north, with a light north wind. We drop our chum and I new it was going to be a good day, I showed the guys how to catch the first tail and they quickly caught on, and boated in a few hours 25 tails then I set them for bottom in the same spot we were using goggle eye, chunks for the bottom, so they quickly hook up a nice mangrove and lost at least a dozen bottom fish due to setting up before time. they also caught a mutton about 4 lbs and a black grouper that was released due to the closure till April first. they also got a couple of macks, then we decided to head south further and deeper to catch a big mutton or a few bigger tails, we traveled 10 miles more to find no tide, so we returned to the north and fished a wreck with ideal conditions, in 130 feet we then deployed the bottom baits and got a few hits and again set up too quickly, then I cut up a mack chunk and send it down and one of the guys almost got spooled before locking the drag and braking off, the tiger tooth got him and a big one. after this we picked up anchor and got back at over 55 miles per hour we got to government cut in 35 min.
