Today was a fun trip out of South Key Largo, with a couple of friends. Pablo and Angel the weather was suppose to be turning bad, But it was a nice morning with 1 foot seas at first then it picked up after 12:00 noon, I started by anchoring shallow in 60 feet and dumped the chum and the speedos got so thick, I could of scooped them with a net. There I started to catch and ended up with about 25, then we left them to go find the muttons and on the way I found out we didn’t have enough rope to anchor in deep water, so I decided to find a tie off buoy in deep water and tie off to bottom fish, so we did, that’s when Angel and Pablo, put down two chunks of (mutton Candy ) speedo, and came up with a couple of muttons 5 to7 lbs, then we started to catch these big tails, on the bottom rigs, with 32 oz of lead to hold bottom. the tide was ripping, we caught 14 nice tails and had 4 and a quarter tails taken by a big cuda. I had a shark take me for a 20 min battle to make every muscle in my body exhausted, then he cut the hook in half and I got my lead and leader back. we also caught 2 small cudas for my friend who likes to eat them and a trigger fish. Then my friend Angel gets a huge hit that screamed the reel, I thought it was a big king and it ended up being a 4 foot Wahoo that hit the bottom rig, and cut off the circle hook at boat side, what a beautiful fish. Here are some picks of today’s trip headed in at 12:30 pm. with the wind hauling. Tight Lines to All, For more you tube, Reef Fishing Consultant![]()
