Going on my first trip in 6 months, a two day trek to the Dry Tortugas. I have gone over my gear a thousand times, already losing sleep! I was thinking, "What is the most exciting thing about GETTING READY"
Is it the anticipation of monster fish?
Anxiety over species selection/availability?
Do I have enough tackle?
Enough bait?
Have I tied enough rigs?
Figured this may liven up this dead ass forum, my trip is next week and with the full moon/anxiety I am already sleepless

Go get em POO BAH, and take the camera with you! I'm looking forward to a full report when you return! Good Luck!
Just get him on, then we'll worry about gettin him in!
Best part about a fishing trip is all the time leading up to it and the first moment you put a line in the water. You can't beat that feeling optimism when you first get out there, the suns coming up, you're feel like you're in the right spot, and no matter what the conditions are you always seem to feel good about them when you're just getting started. Its that feeling that "Anything can happen, at anytime" that is nevermore apparent as it is at the beginning of the day. Its the anticipation of not knowing exactly whats going to happen thats the best part of a trip for me. As for how the day actually pans out, that can sometimes be the [I]the worst[I]part!
That being said, I can't count the number of times I've spent hours tying the perfect rigs, prepping the perfect baits, spooling the most even reels, sharpening hooks or organizing a tackle box for a trip and in the fist hour or less, snagged the wreck, been bitten off, had an epic backlash, pulled the hook, or had the wind blow 30-40 and trash all my hard work, not to mention all that optimism. But in spite all of that, I still can't think of a career where there is so much beyond my control every single day on the job. But there is nothing I'd rather do for a living, and still during days off.
There, if I'm the only one who replies do I still get the prize?

THE ANTICIPATION OF FISHING RISES HIGH ON A DAY LIKE TODAY....MY WHOLE SEASON COULD CRUMBLE RIGHT BEFORE MY VERY EYES...A YEARS SALARY COULD BE SNATCHED FROM ME IN THE TWINKLE OF AN EYE....THAT'S RIGHT....TODAY WE WENT TO THE YARDS.......AND EVERYTIME WE GET LIFTED TO DRY LAND WITH THAT 100 TON CRANE, I JUST CRINGE.....WILL THE CABLES HOLD? WILL THE BRAKE REMAIN STEADFAST AND PLACE THE OL GIRL IN PROPER PLACE?
TODAY WAS PERFECT.....THE HULL WAS BLESSED WITH 89 GRIT....RUDDER WAS ACID WASHED....THE FOUR BLADE GETS A NEW TUNE UP ....NEW SHAFT BEARINGS INSTALLED.....NEW ROD HOLDERS WERE ADDED....NEW DESIGNED REAR WHEELHOUSE WINDOWS INSTALLED....NEW COCKPIT PAINT NEXT WEEK.....
NOW IF THE RE-ENTRY BACK INTO THE WATER GOES A-OKAY THEN ALL'S WELL....
