Default Alabama Gulf Coast Light Tackle Report

With the warming temps the inshore back country fishing is heating up fast along the Alabama-Florida Gulf Coast. Make it out right at sunrise and you'll enjoy some "speck" tacular fishing on the grass flats. You better be early though. As the sun rises the fish begin to move into deeper water...except for the redfish. They'll stay on the broken grassy patches pretty much all day as long as the tide is moving. If the beach is calm, head out mid-morning and try your luck with pompano. Every week it gets better with these delicious fighters.
Speaking of the beach, if it has been calm and clear there have been several schools of 20+ pound redfish cruising in the surf from Pensacola Pass to Perdido Pass. Skip the bright flies or jigs and try a root beer color or something dark. They'll come off the bottom from five feet if it's big and dark and moving! Also if you're ready to "man up" some bruiser jack cravelle have also been prowling the beach but be prepared for a 15-20 minute battle! Give us a call or stop by our web-site.
