What's your favorite go-to fishing knot and why? Bonus points if you have one of your own creation!
Depends on the application but my go to knot for attaching lures, hooks, swivels ect... is the San Diego jam knot. For attaching leader to braid it's a PR knot and on a rocking boat it's a spyder hitch and albright with a three turn uni lock.
Spyder hitch with a swivel knot. Everything else (except wire) I crimp!
The only people that tell you it can't be done are the people who haven't done it themselves.
Whenever I can use the Albright, I Do. I Love that knot.
This too shall pass.
For inshore I still tie the first knot my dad taught me, the old seven times around. I tie a surgeon's knot for leader to line and a double overhand for line 30# to 80 #. Keeping it simple so I don't end up tying myself in a knot.![]()
