Fishing Report for Islamorada and Flamingo Everglades National Park

Islamorada:

Inshore: The tarpon, permit and bonefish will continue to provide lots of action. Expect the bonefish and permit to be most active in the morning and evening hours, tides will play a major role on these two species because of the direct impact the tides will have on the hot summer waters on the shallow flats. The tarpon will continue to flow in both the backcountry and Atlantic ocean side, but will start to diminish as the mid and end of summer approach. During the day, on the ocean side and in some backcountry locations, the fly works great. Casting artificial plugs on spinning or bait casting rods has also been productive. Live or cut bait at night has also been working well for the silver king.

Offshore: The blackfin tuna and dolphin bite will continue strong. Work the birds and debris while looking for the dolphin. On the wrecks you can wrestle with some big amber jacks, live bait is working best.


Flamingo:

Backcountry: The redfish, seatrout, snook, shark and snapper bite will continue strong throughout the summer months. Look for the redfish and snook up on the flats and in the pot holes. The seatrout will be in about 3 - 6 feet of water, using a Cajun thunder or popping cork with a shrimp on a jig works best. If your looking for shark, use some chum up on the flats and on the edges of the flats, drop offs and channels. Mangrove snapper will continue with a strong bite along the mangrove islands.
