Taking my youngest son Tyler out this morning in hopes of getting him his first sailfish. The bait guy wasn't there yet so we opted to just run out this morning in hopes we can load up at the barge like on Wednesday. We exit the inlet at the slack tide and the conditions were favorable.

Headed to the NE spot in hopes of loading up on bait there so we could run out and stay NE of the inlet to make the return ride a dry one. No luck there except for some hornbellys. Headed on down to the barge and proceeded to lose about a dozen sabiki rigs to cut offs from something with teeth :banghead

Sunrise pics

The sun is actual up in these pics. Thats the waves blocking the sun :hairraiser

After only picking up a few dines and runners we ran offshore and loaded up on dines in short order. Met DW there. Nice meeting you B_W (Bryan). How did you make out today?

Here is Tyler catching some baits...

Spotted this while catching bait. Figured we might have a great day :grin

After trying to troll through some weeds in 60ft and just catching weed fish we pulled in the riggers and continued due east. We came across a large pack of rays just under the surface. They are hard to make out in these pics but the (2) under water videos came out good.

That is why I love it out here. You just never know what you will see from one trip to the next. That was a first for Tyler and I. We have seen the big Manta Rays before but nothing like that. That was an awesome site for sure :thumbsup

We continue on and found some nice weeds in 230ft. Put out the dines and set-up a drift back towards the SW. FISH ON...

Moved from here back into 80ft to hit the large matts we past on the way out. Ended the day putting Tyler on another fish but it came unglued. It was in the same spot we caught a 38lb Cobia at last month. Headed in at 11:30am due to the sloppy conditions. Did spot our target species (see Random pics below) but he wouldn't take the bait. Had a great time today. Spoke with Vindawg who was fishing the tourney. How did you make out today Vinny?

Today’s Tally

1 Black Tip Shark
1 Mystery bite in 80ft

How did you all make out today?

CDIP Offshore Weather Buoys:

Here is a link to the one that is located 6 miles offshore of FPI. I use this site daily to monitor the wave heights, wave separation and water temps offshore.
