Default Water Warming in Cabo and the Baja

Jc Sportfishing Charters is a family owned and operated business and has been fishing in Cabo San Lucas for the past 18 years. We welcome families and groups. We want everyone who fishes with us to
take all the sites in and have memorable experience. This is what is most important to us.

The water temperatures have been changing and haven't quite settled into a stable pattern yet. Areas
of cold water are still around. Today out in front of the Archit was 71 and even going east it was 70 to71 all way to San Jose changing 5 miles off shore to 78. Yesterdays water temps were pretty much the
same but there is a band of warmer water that wraps around the tip of Baja, then stretches out onto the Pacific 5 miles from Solmar beach. So it looks like warm water is coming into the area but as usual
there is still cold water on Pacific side that hasn't left yet. East Cape water is in the 80s .
Weather has been nice,a little warmer than last week, with afternoon breezes and sometimes light
cooler winds at night. All in all its typical June weather warm with afternoons in the low 90s dropping to
upper 60,s to low 70,s. Last couple days is cooler with light winds at night. We definitely got a cool
    down.
Caballito are in abundance this week with some mackerel. The bait is at the standard $3 apiece. Some
frozen ballyhoo have been found on the bait boats.Try and find fresh frozen and not refrozen.
The past week was off and on, but on Wednesday 5 marlin were caught and released on the Bob Marlin. On Tuesday and Wednesday marlin were caught within 5 miles of shore off of Punta Ballena and all the way to San Jose was productive for our fleet . Tuesday we caught three marlin close to the 1150.
Basically fish were following the warm water and the first part of last week was excellent
fishing. All fleets seemed to be reporting marlin on Tuesday and Wednesday. It did slack off the last
couple days with scattered reports of fish being caught. Most Striped Marlin were in the 100 to 130
    pound range .
Very few dorado are being caught. I did hear of a few on Pacific side. Some were like 20 to 30 pounds.
The Wahoo catch has almost been non-existent over the last week. I think we need more warm water to start seeing them.
The inshore fishing has been consistant. Lots of sierras and roosterfish were caught this past week off
of Solmar beach all the way to the pump station. Yellowtail were also caught in the same areas.
Amberjack and snappers were caught within 4 miles of shore throughout the week. Large dog snappers were picked up by a group I talked to within a quarter mile from shore off of Cabo Bello, using cut bait in the rocks at 50 to 70 feet. One snapper was 50 pounds and another 40 .
BEWARE: Remember if you're not renting charter boats from companies who have been established in Cabo for the past 20 years ( Jcsportfishing, Pisces Sportfishing, Minervas, Redrum, Picante Fleet) you might have problems. There are fleets on the Internet who are operating illegally. Lots of these
outfits are renting you a boat they have never even looked at and don't even know where you would
board the boat, leaving you the task of trying to find it. They don't even have an office you can go and
    confirm your charter boat.
Lots of vendors are not reputable and don't care about your interest and care more about a
commission . Seventy-five percent of the Cabo Fishing websites on Google are not even
in business anymore or might be just brokers who don't have an office in Cabo.
Until next time good fishing and we hope to see you in Cabo soon.
