Capt's Jimmy Gahm and Dave Bender took Brian Lavine and friends of Rockland County, New York out to the Hudson Canyon on Sunday july 22,2012. this was our first run to our home canyon this season as the bite has been way south, and we didn't know what to expect, so we did it " ol' skool." We started at the tip and looked around. Good friend Kenny " Due Course" Avon was into a few fish a bit farther south so we worked our way down the line. We had some bites and before we set up for the night we had four 40-pound yellowfin in the box.
We had bait around the boat all night and went 0 for 2 on the chunk untill they came under at false light putting 4 nice yellowfins in the box, before it was all over. Back on the troll we put together a nice bite and added 6 more yellowfins up to 50 pounds and lost a very nice white marlin on a broken leader. By trips end the guys had 14 yellowfins and a great time. Hopefully the next time they come they'll bring the hard Itailian semolina to go with the antipasto platter, Thanks, Kenny, for floating over a bag.
