    Default Sarasota Redfish

Jeff and Mary Faulk of Brandon joined me for a half day of fishing on 8/2. There was a strong incoming tide in the morning and that created lots of life on the flats. After launching at 7:00 AM, the first dozen trout (of the several dozen they caught) were in the Ankona ShadowCast 16 by 7:30 AM. Most were in the 12-15" class over the larger potholes. Working the smaller potholes on the flats yielded larger trout in the 17-20" range. All trout were caught using Mirr-O-Lure Mirro-Dines (14MR-50, 17MR-50, 17MR-BKGCH) on medium light St. Croix Mojo Inshore rods. After the trout slowed down, redfish was on the agenda. Two reds came to the skiff towards the end of the incoming tide. Both were Jeff and Mary's first redfish ever caught (24" and 20" respectively). Both were caught on Mirr-O-Lure Lil' John's (MRLJ-26) on 1/8 oz. jigheads. Both anglers had a great day!
