took my kiddo and a friends son i have been babysitting to Bob Hall for a few hours
got on the pier and set up a slide in the gut, a friend gave me a live 5inch pinfish, i put it out and was going to go talk to Albert on the T..i made it about 10feet herding the kiddos and a 5foot tarpon goes crazy on my bait.. didn't hook him up, maybe next time..
there were tons of big Spanish Macheral all over the slides..
after about an hour a shark bait gets picked up(on a big Avet that was yakked way out, it had a stingray on it) i didn't think anything was on it, after about 10-15minutes they were seeing a big fish on the surface, i got the kiddos sorted out and helped as much as possible..when the shark got close to the pier, we could see it was a big Tiger shark, it had a big kingfish a few feet in front of it and multiple undersized ling on it too..i had a big smack eat my slide around this time let a friend land and have it..
took some work but we got it to the beach, i held the tail while Albert worked on the hooks(Albert is fearless, and has an amazing natural ability with sharks) we got measurements(8foot 8inches) and a DNA sample and tagged it..
after a few pics of it lifted out of the water we pushed it into the gut and it swam away strong..pretty neat experience, there was a serious crowd, thank you to all who helped..glad i got to be apart of it specially since i had two kids with me, the kiddos had a neat day..beats sitting around the house for sure
gaffed a friends 44inch king that came out of the gut and called it a day, let the kiddos get wet and went home..
someone was nice enough to video some of it on my camera, the footage isn't perfect..wish i had got some pics and vid of it up close maybe someone else will have a pic or two to add of it..
