Paddled solo to the Bob Hall standpipe earlier today(monday) had some good luck and some bad..was a neat day on the water, released allot of fish and stayed safe..
the surf almost got me, but i made it..some of swells were pretty big on the way out..

got a few bites on ribbonfish as i got near the rig..
i decide to troll and drift for a while i make a few circles around the rig and hook the smallest kingfish i have ever caught..(30inches)

i thought it was a spanish macheral..but after getting my hands on it i could tell it was a king..(no dorsal sail, and the mouth was too big and beefy to be a smack..the meat told the story as well)

bled the little king and put him in the fishbag, bet he is gonna taste great..

got a nice bluefish..ended up bleeding it too and putting it in the fishbag..

tried to get a pic of a pretty nice lane snapper i caught, but he made a hasty exit..was gonna let him go anyway..

caught four pup sharks, let them all go..the ate most of my ribbonfish (i only took a dozen)

put on a man-o-lure and caught
lots of snapper..
small amber jack..
blue runner..
baby baby cobia..(cutest thing i have ever hooked)
then i hooked a large cobia with the 1once mann-o-lure..i was tied to the rig, and didn't have time to unclip) i dropped the lure down but it only went 10feet..i flipped the bail and set the hook..half my kayak goes under water instantly
(kinda used to this by now, i have lost 8 jacks and ling to the rigs so far fishing for snapper) i decided to crank the drag down and brawl with it..i stopped it at the rig, and almost had it beat..got the head turned for few second then my line broke..i think it got about a foot inside the rig..i cursed the ocean loudly(gonna spool up with 50lb suffix performance braid soon on my fin nor 4500 spinner, been using 40lb suffix performance braid it is strong stuff)..
i only had two ribbonfish left so i got out a big red/white rapala to troll to the beach with..i end up dropping it in the water(it sunk of coarse), so i put a ribbonfish out and put my other rod away decide to make one pass around the rig before heading in..only made it 40yards and i hook a nice little king(this is 5minutes after losing the big ling)

went 38inches

my GoPro's battery died on me so i didn't get it all on vid..didn't gaff it.. it swam right up for me to grab it by the tail..

put that king at my feet and headed to the beach..put on my last ribbonfish on a weighted flashy skirt(same skirt i caught both of the other kings with(pearl duster and a 1/2once weight..had a treble hook in the back on this particular rig..got half way to bob hall when my spinning rod lets out a hideous shriek for a second or two.. i turn to see a huge blowup with a monster silver fish in the middle of it..stupid treble didn't hook it, pretty sure it was tarpon, maybe a monster king..(missed one other nice king run earlier in the day just down current of the standpipe)

gave my 38inch king away to a guy on bob hall, and ran out a shark bait..a guy on the pier told me a red fish was on a stringer in the water..i found it in the breakers..got a hold of the stringer and flipped the yak when a big wave hit me..broke a toe when i came out of the yak(oops )
only lost my orange plastic baler for water..had that thing for years..
got the kayak to the beach then swam/walked out and found the stringer..ended up being a 18inch red drum..that floated all the way from Packery, something tried to eat it too..it was still alive and after a little CPR it swam away fine, he had a rough day...

battery died on me as i was getting pics..took the Tarpon100 today and added a bungee into my anchor rope, it made a huge difference...
interesting day of good and bad cant wait to get back out there..
i'm starting to love the Bob Hall Standpipe
had the standpipe pretty much to myself..was off the water by 1:30pm..
