Hudson Canyon Bigeyes

CANYON RUNNER REPORT

Just a quick report for the last week. Fishing isn't exactly red hot but we seem to keep running over a couple big-eyes. We fished most of last week and while some trips had 6-8 yellowfin many only had 1-3. It seems we are catching as many big-eyes as yellowfin on these trips. I might have lost count but I think we are up to 14 or 15 big-eyes so far this year with all but one caught on the 48 Canyon Runner by Capt. Mark and Dean.

On Monday, Capt. Mark on the 48 Viking had a nice big-eye trolling the Hudson Canyon and he followed that up Thursday with another from the same canyon. One big-eye took a Joe Shute and ballyhoo and the other took a Canyon Runner Squid Spreader Bar.

Other boats had some great catches on the chunk with yellowfin Friday night and we are hoping that will signal the beginning of the chunking season. But Monday night was slow for us again in the Hudson so we ran in and finished off with some bluefin - so who knows.
