Miamimuttonman Report 8/23/12 Mixed bag Catch / Key largo
Today’s Key Largo trip, was nice, the current was heading south and we had a ENE wind which all worked out.
Now that the fish are hungry and the full moon is coming up, we get this storm, yet to come that is picking up the wind and seas for the next few days, when the mutton bite is hot. We fished first in 55 feet and got the tails up behind the boat but there was an invasion of bonitos and blue runners to deal with making the yellowtail back down too far to reach, we ended up catching 11 tails here and released a black grouper, that needed to grow another few inches before being legal, we also got a keeper shortly after and a nice mutton along with two more muttons and a mangrove and a mac, and a few bonitos, also lost a couple nice fish to the reef, before leaving i casted my net and filled the well with ballyhoo and off we were to the deep waters in search of the muttons, we got to this spot and it was none stop action after trying to anchor on it and giving up, our rope was not long enough to reach were I originally wanted to anchor, so we just got close enough to get the bites, we got 4 nice tails here and 6 muttons and we left them biting good, for the next time. here are some pics, for more go to www.miamimuttonman.com
