    Default Fishing In Australia

    Hi all,

Just thought would make my first post a bit of a plug about fishing Down Under!

With summer almost here things are starting to heat up! Mako sharks are starting to be found in increasing numbers around Northern Tasmania with one recent catch tipping the scales at around 240lbs.

A huge mulloway was taken in South Australia a few days ago that went a very impressive 87lbs and a shade under 6ft in length.

Billfish are still fishing well around North Queensland and a couple weeks ago one lucky angler tagged a 1200lb Black Marlin! Talk about the stuff of dreams!

Plenty other action both offshore, inshore and in the freshwater rivers and lakes of Oz. Will post up more reports as they come to hand.

Feel free to throw any questions at me too and I will do my best to answer them.

    Tightlines to all!

Looking forward to seeing more reports from Down Under. What's a mulloway look like?

    Thanks mate.

Mulloway are also known in some parts of Australia as Jewfish and are called Dusky Kob in South Africa. They are a targeted species from beaches around the Southern Australian coastline. Not really rated as a table fish, they are more a trophy fish and the one mentioned above (and pictured below) is destined for the taxidermists table and will be mounted as a prop to the lucky fishermans tale.

Have heaps more info from Oz, just got to find the time to get it all together! There is a LOT of fishing done down here and it covers all types, styles and species.

If there is anything specific you guys want to hear more about, just let me know.

    Cheers

    Chris
