Just an absolute gorgeous day, warm and sunny with a light breeze. Only need to get the real fish to co-operate. Only managed three short Trout and no Reds for the day. One Flounder that weighed at 4.75#. The biggest headache of the day came from the Jacks. Canal was loaded with them. Could not make a cast without hooking one. At one point they had the water boiling. Reminded me of Blue Fish days in New England. Another area and it was the same story except the actors changed to Ladyfish. The hard thing to take is the increase in the number of Cuda's that are on the flats. Caught 5 on the day, the biggest was 18 inches. For the skinny water fishing the Flat Rap 08 is working out really well.
Actually saw some mat grass in the shallow areas. Maybe we will manage to recover.
Thanks for the report. Good news to hear some grass returning to that portion of the Indian River.
Sounds like you mighta been working the baits a bit too quickly if you're catching mostly jacks, cudas and ladyfish.
