Catching a big Blue Marlin is a real challenge. Getting your knots tied right, choosing a good lure, getting a good hook up around that hard face all play a huge part in the chain of success. One of the technique differences we used to discuss was if it was better to speed up on a strike or back off the throttle. The first simulates a frightened fish and the second a seriously injured fish. It would be good to hear what you all think. I always used the speed up technique. Caught some nice marlin with it.
