Team Tex-Mex on Manzanillo,MX (Mario Ruiz JR Sailfish number200 and NEW LOGO)MAY 2013
Manzanillo,MX- After being in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico fishing with Capt. Manny Ocaranza we decided to head back to Manzanillo,MX (My Hometown). The first week of May of fishing was very slow we went 40 miles offshore (long distance for Manzanillo fishig) Green water, no bait swimming, high seas, 12 hours of full fishing and we just come with a dorado (10 pounder) for the ceviche. I was worried because the fishing.
The second week of May I checked terrafin.com the blue and clear water was more closer 30 NM offshore. So I decided to go again. We troll with live bait (Bonitos) for a blue Marlin, lures, dead bait, everything.... NOTHING!!! 10 hours and with out a strike. A friend of me Capt. Reyes Mesina got a blue marlin maybe 280 pounder onboard of Dueño del Mar X. It was the unique report of the day and he cought it on the green water. The fishing was so slow in Manzanillo that I can't believe it.
Third week of May the reports were better the blue water was on 15 NM offshore, some sails and marlin report. So I decided to go again haha; We Calm seas and slow winds.... We went out of port at 6 AM. We set up the lure buffet when we stop at 4 NM offshore Some Black bart lures and pakula. We saw a lot of flyin fish it was a lot of bait and a lot of birds flyin. When we were at 17 NM Pummmmmmm the first sail on a dead mullet Hook up!!!! Maybe a 30 pounder, we stay on the zone for a while and then pummmmmm!!!!! two on the short lures!!!!! there were TUNAS!!!! 15 pounders there where good for sahimi!!! Priceless!!! We end at 30 NM watching some birds and some dolphins but without Yellow fin Tunas. So we decided to head back thru 17 MN. We set up a dead Bonito for a marlin but not good luck..... We set up just lures. The famous Blue Angel Pakula on the long rigger, a zucker green and yellow 3.5 on the outrigger and in the other out rigger a Black bart Mini Angel 1656, a Guacamaya Hi-5 on the medium outrigger, Black Bart Kona tube Classic short Corner and a Seven Strand Kona Swimmer on the other corner. We were on the danger zone and PUMMMMMMMMMM!!! a salifish behind the blue angel, I got the rod and I tease it. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!! FISH ON!!! FOWARD FOWARD!!!! and other sail was behind the teasers but we miss it!!! We fished for 14 hours not bad. I just checked my personal history and it was my sailfish number 200. I was so happy and I drink some beer to celebrate haha.
I will post some pics and also the new logo for us Thanks to DigitalMedia.com
We end the day with good numbers 2-3 on sailfish (Catch & Realese) and 2-2 on Yellow fin Tuna. Also there were good reports for other boats a blue marlin (200 pounder), couple of more sails and two striped marlin (100 pounders).
