Temperature for both the water and air are on the rise. Heat beat me this week and has slowed the fish down. Slot Snapper are on the flats and they are hungry. Ladyfish and Jacks are out. One Lady measured 24 inches to the fork. Working the spoil islands had a thought that the Flounder were not as plentiful this year. Let it slide worked to a pocket where you never know what is waiting. First couple of casts, nothing. Then hooked into what felt like one of those dreaded Tree trout. drag it towards the boat, at about 5 feet out it came to life, a Flounder in the 5 to 6 pound range. Next stop was to explore an area that I had not fished. Plenty of bait and something good sized working. Opted for a top water. Long cast and a swirl, easy popping/dead sticking had the big Trout working for close to 30 feet with no hook up. Next stop produced a 24 inch Trout. A little disappointing in that there was almost no fight. Reminded me a lot of Wall Eye catching. Hit one spot where Snook went absolutely crazy. Hit and miss and before I could move the plug, instant replay 3 times. Finally landed a short.
