First I want to apologize for not being sharing the reports last months!!! I have been very busy with the family business and on my trip to Texas finding our new CABO Yacht.....
Manzanillo,MX-La Paz, MX- Capt. Lennin Romero invite me to the annual Baja Cruise onboard of the "Mambo" a 56 ft Hatteras and I say YES!
The CREW was: Capt. Lenin Romero, Capt. Willy, deckhands: Jonathan "El Negro" and Ivan "Lechugilla" Gallegos. Anglers: Don Paco Romero and Mario Ruiz JR.
We went out of Las Hadas (Manzanillo Marina) at 5:30 PM to start our trip also we had a tender to make two fishing teams on the Trip. The first day was a little bit rough high seas and a lot of wind.
Next day, I wake up a t 5:30 AM to help the guys to set curse and to watch the sunrise. We were in front of Cabo Corriente so we decided to set some lures. 10 minutes later the line of the out rigger went out, it was a very nice 350 lbs Blue Marlin jumping on our side... "FOWARD, FOWARD, FOWARD"..... We fought with him like 45 minutes we touch several of times but without a success to raise up the marlin then the hook went off. We wanna to keep it but the Catch & Release was better.
When we were very near from The Maria's Islands we decided to make fishing teams one in the Mambo and other team on the tender to find more quickly the Yellow Fin Tunas. So I went with deckhand Ivan "Lechugilla" on the tender. We find a lot of birds with a lot of Yellow Fin tuna action we were blastin the Tuna, we end with 30+ YFT in 1 hour (30 pounder the biggest) it was OK because we had some tuna meat for dinner. On dinner time we lost two stripped marlin and it was all for the day.
The Following day it was the best day for fishing we were very near from "La Baja" very calm seas and low winds, me and lechugilla we decided to go again on the tender, we set a spread of black bart lures. We had a lot of fun a lot of Striped Marlin (100- 150 lbs)action, a big Dorado and a lot of strikes of Dorados and marlin. The bite was hot! When we were 40 miles near from La Paz,MX. We start to run thru the marina to finish the epic trip. We made 38-40 HOURS. For me it was a expirience that I want to live in my next boat. Our final score was 0-1 on blue marlin, 4-8 on striped marlin and 1-2 on Dorado (50 lBS).
I will share a video of our trip and some pics.
