crease flies can be a good surface fly. this can be used in fresh or salt water. bass really go after them in fresh water. for salt, the crease works well for snook. it is my understanding that they work well for stripers, blue fish, dorado, marlin, tuna, all kinds of stuff. here is a link to a snook thread from this forum and some info on tying crease flies.

I just tied up a few for a fly swap on another site. There are several ways to tie them using different materials. You can save a bundle by getting the supplies at Michael's art supplies. You buy a sheet of foam, a package of silver leaf, and a package of gold leaf. You can buy pre made cutters or you can just draw a template. I used a glue gun on that batch but have since discovered Clear Cure Goo which I will use from now on. It's the perfect replacement for epoxy. www.clearcuregoo.com If you decide to buy a kit please mention to Brian the owner of the company (no relation , I'm just a very satisfied customer) that you heard about this great product from the folks at POONTANGLE... http://www.aoot.com/PoonTangle/
Ron Dong out in California has taken Joe Blados design and tweaked it some creating a wonderful very fishy looking fly which has become a go to fly in Baja for Dorado, Tuna, Roosters etc. You can learn to tie them here
